Tres de ellas, Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova y Yekaterina Samutsevich, conocidas como Masha, Nadya, y Katya, fueron arrestadas y acusadas de blasfemia, apologia del terrorismo, vandalismo y, de anadidura, por incitar al odio religioso. A medida que la causa judicial seguia su curso, estas jovenes se convirtieron en iconos feministas, atrayendo la atencion y el apoyo de activistas y artistas de todo el mundo. Fueron condenadas a dos anos de prision, y la irreductible defensa de sus ideales ha sido fuente de inspiracion para toda la causa a escala mundial.
