OverviewThis Festschrift is dedicated to Martin Fränzle, a leading researcher in formal methods and cyber-physical systems. After an award-winning PhD at Christian Albrechts Universität zu Kiel, Prof. Fränzle has had roles as a researcher, associate professor, and guest professor at institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Oxford, and the Technical University of Denmark. In 2002 he was appointed a professor at Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg where he leads the Cyber-Physical Systems research group. Prof. Fränzle’s expertise is in modelling, verification, and synthesis of reactive, real-time, and hybrid dynamics in embedded and cyber-physical systems. Among specific topics, he has worked on the semantics of high-level modelling and specification languages and on decision problems and their application to verifying and synthesizing real-time and hybrid discrete-continuous systems. He has led major national and international interdisciplinary projects, in both foundational and applied research, recent domains include critical systems engineering for sociotechnical systems and the safety impacts for maritime and road transportation. He has published conference papers and journal articles with over 200 researchers, collaborating with both academics and industry engineers and scientists, and his impact and achievements are reflected in the contributions in this volume.
