The North German lawyer David Mevius is one of the great European figures of Usus modernus. Here, for the first time, his main legislative work is made accessible in print in the original version he wrote. The focus of the introduction sheds light on individual passages of the land law draft and shows Mevius' understanding of the law, his doctrine of legal sources and legislative technique. The edition guidelines provide information on the way in which the philological peculiarities and the differences between the manuscript and early modern printing are documented. The extensive register is intended to facilitate the way to the source.
