Robert Kanigel ist Journalist, dessen Beiträge in den führenden amerikanischen Wissenschaftszeitschriften, aber auch imNew York Times Magazine erscheinen. Er hat den Grady-Stack Preis für wissenschaftliche Publikationen bekommen und unterrichtet Literaturjournalismus an der John-Hopkins-Universität in Baltimore. Der Übersetzer A. Beutelspacher ist Professor am Institut für Mathematik der Justus-Liebig-Universität in Gießen.
