English summary: The Epistle to the Galatians is an example of conflict management. New missionaries insist on circumcision as a prerequisite to the inclusion among the people of God. Paul opposes this: Through Jesus Christ, those who belong to him are also children of Abraham and children of God and free from the law. The understanding of the Gospel as freedom from Biblical Jewish law has made history, often with anti-semitic undertones. But in the Epistle to the Galatians Paul also represents a much wider understanding of the Bible of Israel. On the basis of this, he impresses that committing to Jesus Christ means liberation for a new life. In hermeneutic reflections and a longer conclusion, this commentary starts an introductory and critical conversation with the Pauline Gospel.
