Overview

Daniel 6 tells the story of Daniel's unwavering faith in God and how it leads him into the lions' den. When King Darius sets Daniel over the whole kingdom, jealous officials conspire against him. They trick the king into signing a law that forbids prayer to anyone but the king for thirty days. But Daniel, faithful to God, continues to pray openly three times a day. Caught and condemned by the law, he is thrown into a den of lions. The king, distressed and hopeful for Daniel's deliverance, fasts all night. At dawn, he rushes to the den and finds that God has sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths. Daniel is unharmed. Overjoyed, the king orders Daniel lifted out and commands that those who plotted against him be thrown into the den instead. The chapter ends with a royal decree praising the living God who delivers, rescues, and reigns forever.
