Delivered to satan? Christians?: and why?

Overview

There are times when someone is delivered to satan. If this is true, what would be the reason for this, and does this mean only the unbelievers, or does this also include God's children? I want to share a study I conducted on this topic and my understanding of its significance. This will be part one, and I will continue to share the rest of the complete study. We see in 1 Timothy (1:18-20) where Paul instructs Timothy to follow his orders to turn someone over to Satan. It begins in verse 18 and in verse 20. ""Of whom is Hy-me-nae'us and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme."" Paul had to do this to the men above because their sins and iniquities had gone too far within the church. They had become a significant stumbling block to other Christians. What About a Job? Was Job turned over to satan? In the case of Job, a different thing is happening, and the reasons for it. Satan wanted Job because of his faithfulness and righteousness. God was about to show satan what truly loving God and saving faith meant. As you read the story of Job, you see all the attacks satan placed on him. You see all the losses, grief, and agony he endured. Still, he did not crumble. In the story, when Job finally cries out to God for answers to why, the Lord answers Job in a very intense moment.
