Defining the Application of YNSA

Overview

This book is intended as a companion to the excellent published text by Dr Toshikatsu Yamamoto, who discovered and tirelessly over many years, mapped a novel acupuncture microsystem that he named Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA). It is particularly effective in musculoskeletal and neurological problems, and an excellent tool in rehabilitation of many physical and motor dysfunction. A remarkable and significant advantage of this system is that most of the time, the effect and improvements come instantly at the time of needle insertion and activation. We learn a lot from our patients. This book reflects what I have learnt as I applied YNSA in the clinical setting. My patients have helped define the location of many of the YNSA acupuncture points and have kindly allowed me to document and share the resultsI have documented some of the experiences I have had in applying YNSA to problems where I have had prior difficulty treating with traditional acupuncture protocols. Some examples are treating back pain related to rotation of the trunk, stroke pattients who have difficulty feeding themselves because they could not supinate their arm and hand. There are also patients who present with difficulty with speech and swallowing, such as those with Parkinson's symptoms as well as those who had undergone tongue and throat surgery for cnacer.I have listed the points used, their locations, and how they are applied. I have also sought to find an explanation as to how some of the YNSA points work.In sharing my experience of practising YNSA for the last 20+ years and teaching it in acupuncture workshops in Australia and overseas I hope YNSA can add another useful dimension to your clinical practice. This book can help guide you through these steps.
