Reviews

Dr. Richard Lettieri's Decoding Madness is a thoughtful and compelling discussion of mental illness and crime. His work combines beautifully written case studies with clearly presented discussions of the science and art behind understanding and intervening in these kinds of cases. Lettieri also does a terrific job taking us through his thought processes when evaluating a person accused of crime and raises many philosophical questions around the notion of culpability. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in the intersection of crime and madness. - Elyn R. Saks, Distinguished professor of Law, Psychology, and Psychiatry at the University of Southern California's Gould Law School, MacArthur Foundation Fellowship recipient, and author of The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness
