Overview

Now in its 144th edition, and currently published every three years, Debrett's Peerage & Baronetage provides the definitive genealogical guide to Britain's titled families. John Debrett first put his name to The Correct Peerage of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1802, having taken over the editorship from his employer, John Almon. It then consisted of two small volumes. Now standing at over 3000 pages, Debrett's is the ultimate reference book on Britain's aristocracy. Since the last edition in 2000, the deaths of 52 peers have been recorded (of which 4 titles have become dormant or extinct), and the deaths of 42 life peers. One hereditary peerage has gone into abeyance, and the biographies of 142 new life peers are included. Of the Baronetage, 41 deaths have been recorded, and of these 4 titles have become dormant or extinct.
