Dealing with Grief and How to Move Beyond It

Overview

I'm not a grief expert, but I can say that I've experienced grief, dealt with it, and moved beyond it. My introduction to grief began at a young age with my mother's initial hospitalization. It continued off and on for eleven years before she finally died from cancer. I was eighteen; she was thirty-five. That, more than any other loss that I have suffered, has shaped me into who I am. My mother's illness and death were my introduction to grief, but unfortunately, that was not the final chapter. My story includes the loss of some family members and one tragic relationship. Each loss affected me differently, and my response to grief changed over time. There were some very challenging times in my life, but by the grace of God, I grew stronger in Christ, and I survived.

Reviews

""I highly recommend this book, not just for those currently grieving, but for anyone who wants to understand the deep emotional processes that come with loss. It's a beautiful testament to the strength of the human spirit, the importance of faith, and the power of choosing to heal. Keia's story is one that will inspire many, and I'm proud to have seen her growth firsthand. I'll be recommending this book to my clients, knowing it will be a source of comfort and wisdom for them as well."" ""One of the most powerful themes is the author's transformation of grief into deeper faith. She reflects on how pain stripped away what was superficial in her life and led her to a more intimate, honest relationship with God. Rather than forcing a narrative of closure or ""moving on,"" she illustrates how grief became a sacred teacher-reshaping her identity, purpose, and sense of connection to the divine."" ""Keia K. Holt provides a moving heartfelt testimony of her personal experience with grief. Her compelling journey gives the reader hope and validation of the grieving process. The author's comparison of the grieving process with that of the stages of a butterfly are critical to understanding grief as she puts grief is not pretty but the outcome for those who want to move beyond it is beautiful. Not just being alive but living! This book is a great source for all who are or have experienced grief. It has truly been a help to me as I'm preparing the long goodbye to my mom who has dementia. Thank you, Author Keia K. Holt for sharing your story of healing!""
