Twelve-year-old Brian Turner's life is fairly predictable. He spends most of his days trying to survive middle school and working on his fort in the forest with his eccentric best friend, Callie. Everything feels normal. So, it comes as a shock when he realizes his ""normal"" life is really the afterlife. At first, Brian tries to enjoy living in a world without consequences. But when he joins a group seeking to unravel the mysteries of the afterlife, he learns his picture perfect town is hiding a dark secret.
