Dead South

Overview

The southernmost point of the United States is on the Big Island of Hawaii. The southernmost point in photographer Sonny Littlefield's life is now. Trashed from face-offs with murderers and a tumultuous love life, she's aiming to do some soul-searching in the Aloha State, but only a few days into her getaway, she's shocked by a whale rescuer's suspicious death. With the blue Pacific for a view and an active volcano as a backdrop, Sonny trades hiking and snorkeling for an FBI sting aimed at unraveling a pattern of deaths that have slipped under the radar as overdoses and accidents. It's not everyone's idea of a vacation plan, but Sonny has honed her instincts in tracking killers, and they are plentiful, even in paradise.

Author Information

Nina's Sonny Littlefield novels are based on her own experiences as a photographer, and the years she and her husband raised sheep and horses on a small organic farm in rural Maine. During her travels to jungles, coral reefs, and other destinations, Nina is always on the lookout for ways to incorporate interesting characters and realism into her fiction. In writing the series, she draws heavily on her own brushes with disaster, moments when she pressed her luck too far, even the time she brought a tip to the police and ended up helping them solve a crime.Nina's albums of nature audio tracks are available through Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services. Examples of her photos and videos are on her website, www.ninadegraff.com. Series-related videos can be found on her Facebook page, ""Nina DeGraff Books."" Her fabric designs, some of which are created with her mystery novels in mind, are available through Spoonflower, and her Etsy shop, featuring beach bags, tea towels, and other fabric creations, is open when time allows.
