Luis A. Santiago Matos, born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, on November 16th, 1946, was the son of Ángel F. Santiago Ramírez and Brunilda del Carmen Matos Montero. He shared his early years with his older brother, Ángel F. Santiago, Jr.His educational journey took him to different places. He started his primary education at the Federico Degetau School in Llanos Tuna, Cabo Rojo. However, his secondary school years were split between New York City, where he attended Public School 43, and Cabo Rojo, where he completed the tenth grade at Luis Muñoz Marín High School. His last two years of high school were spent at Haaren High School in New York City.Throughout his life, he experienced the joy of fatherhood, welcoming his daughter, Sophy Marie Santiago, and son, Luis Ángel Santiago ""Bomby."" As time passed, he became the proud grandfather of five beautiful granddaughters: Desireé Marie, Valerie Nicole, Coral Mairis, Cristal Merlis, and Sofía Gabriela. He also had the delight of welcoming a great-grandson named Julián Antonio.Retirement came on July 24th, 1999, marking the end of his teaching career. In the year 2000, he discovered a new passion - writing poetry. For him, these poems became his life, his polished stones. He achieved grand satisfaction with his second poetic masterpiece, ""Two Hundred and Three Poems to Beloved."" Among his creations, he cherished ""The Grand Fiesta!,"" ""Mona Island,"" and ""Loving Nature,"" all composed in both English and Spanish.
