English summary: Although the Spanish Jesuit Luis de Molina (1535-1600) is considered a major theological advocate of human self-determination as well as a pioneer of economic liberalism, he has received less attention so far than, for example, Francisco de Vitoria (1483-1546) and Francisco Suarez (1548-1617). Significant parts of Molinas legal philosophy are made accessible through this two-volume edition and translation of tractates I and II, disputations 1-40, of his voluminous De Iustitia et Iure which contained five tractates published between 1593 and 1609.
