OverviewDaydreaming Daisy tells of a very shy little girl who finds it easier to imagine friends than to make real ones. Her imaginary friends are a little girl named Samantha, who likes to wear outrageous outfits, a giraffe and a panda. One day Daisy is walking to school and stops for a traffic light. She grows bored waiting for the light to change and daydreams that her friends are passing by in a parade. Daisy gets so caught up in her daydream that she doesn't notice when the light changes. A grouchy old man prods her with his cane and tells her to hurry along. This is not the only time Daisy's daydreaming gets her in trouble. She gazes out the window during math class and dreams about playing on the playground. Needless to say, her grades begin to suffer. Next up is a visit to the school counselor about her failing grades. Instead of scolding Daisy, Dr. Simon encourages her to join the Daydreamer's Club, an after-school group for bright, imaginative kids to discuss, write and draw their favorite daydreams. Soon Daisy learns to control her daydreaming and to do it only when appropriate. Both from Missouri, Illustrator and Co-Author Josephine Kei Lux and Co-Author Marion Doerflinger started their artistic pursuits early. Kei Lux began dreaming of writing and illustrating children's books when she started reading them in elementary school. Doerflinger wanted to get published in first grade. He encourages bright and imaginative children to know that it is all right to daydream.
