Overview

This text is designed to teach beginners how to use SPSS for Windows. The author explains the basics of SPSS, including: the input of data; data manipulation; descriptive analyses; and inferential techniques. T-tests, analysis of variance, correlation and regression, non-parametric techniques, reliability analysis, and factor analysis are also covered. The introductory section provides an overview of statistical analysis, from fundamental definitions through to interpretation and significance of the results. The author goes on to demonstrate how to set up an SPSS file in order to run an analysis, how to graph and display data, and how to use SPSS for all the main statistical approaches found in an introductory statistics course. Examples are provided as well as sample output, screen shots, diagrams, and a decision chart to select the appropriate statistical test.
