OverviewThird monograph in the series 'Aircraft with History' by Aviation Art & History, telling the story of the Dassault Mirage M-5MA Elkan No. 705 of the Chilean Air Force. In twenty-four pages, details of its construction and service for the Belgian Air Force (FAB) until its service in the Chilean Air Force (FACh) are published. This Mirage operated for almost twenty years in the FAB as M-5BA BA-37 in Squadron No. 1 and was retired from service in 1989. In 1994, it was modified by SABCA to the MirSIP standard to be sold to the FACh as M-5MA Elkan No. 705. The FACh assigned them to the Aviation Group No. 8, based mainly at Cerro Moreno Air Base, Antofagasta. In 2005, it participated in the CEIBO exercise, held in Argentina at Plumerillo Air Base, Mendoza. In 2006, it was retired from service along with the rest of the fleet and is currently preserved in the FACh Supply Wing, El Bosque Air Base.
