Overview

One sassy little donkey. One big lesson in kindness. Daisy the mini donkey does whatever she wants-and the other animals at Windy Willow Farm are not impressed. She makes messes, treats the whole farm as her personal playground, and never thinks about anyone else. But when her wild antics start pushing her new friends away, Daisy faces a choice: keep doing things her way, or learn what it means to care about others. Dashing Daisy is a humorous, heartfelt story about respect, friendship, and growing up. Sometimes the wildest hearts make the most wonderful friends. Dashing Daisy is the second book in the Hay Bales and Farm Tales series, offering young readers room to explore big feelings, make gentle choices, and find the quiet courage it takes to grow up.

Author Information

Growing up on the Behrens Farm with her grandparents, Susan loved dirt, hay fields, and catching bugs and butterflies. Every day after school you could find her mothering chicks, calves, kittens, puppies, or piglets. Susan lives with her husband on their own farm in Illinois. And now that her kids are grown, she's become mother to a flock of escape-artist chickens, her daughter's lovely saddlebred horse, two Jack Russell terriers, and the star of her stories-a rather loud, ornery goose.Susan found her calling as an editor but also loves to write, cook, eat, garden, and paint. She plans to publish more stories for young readers, hoping to instill the same deep love for family, farm life, and fun that she found on her grandparents' farm ... and the barn she called home. Marina Saumell is an Argentina-based illustrator. She graduated in 2003 with a degree in architecture. Her first career in commercial architecture morphed quickly after the birth of her first child. Her growing love for children's books inspired her to venture into book illustration. Since 2006, she has joyously followed her passion for drawing and illustration. Her illustrations reveal her background in architecture and also her interest in the effects of light to convey emotions. She has illustrated more than 50 children's books, engaging all kinds of audiences from early readers to young adults.Marina lives in Mar del Plata with her husband and their two children. Ruffled Feathers is her first collaboration with Susan Pierson.
