Overview

Colleagues Dr. Jeffrey McGregor and Dr. Mackenzie Randall join forces once again when the former is approached by a representative of a government organization identified as the Strategic Science Directorate (SSD) and asked to determine the nature of a mysterious signal that has recently been beamed toward Earth from deep space. In the process of their review of the signal, the SSD oversees the lunar construction of an interstellar vessel - the Odyssey - designed to take the pair along with a crew of twelve specialists at near light speeds to a planet over 1,100 light years from Earth. Their journey is facilitated through a process of suspended animation which has its own challenges for the pair and their crew as lives are cut short by an inexplicable and unwelcome force that pervades the vessel itself. The mysterious force continues to haunt McGregor and Randall as they disembark on a planet identified as KOI-4878.01 where they are welcomed by an unlikely group of Earthlings from decades past whose members have their own agendas.
