Rader is a Tennessee native, born and raised in the Great Smoky Mountains and its foothills. His growing up adventures and early learning experiences were more than electric During his teen and college summers, he was a boxer, forester and firefighter in Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park; trapper, construction helper, family grocery store gopher and grocer delivery driver in a WW II Willy's Jeep. After earning BS and MS degrees from University of Tennessee in Communications, Business and Organizational Development, Rader entered and graduated from Naval OCS, spent four years active and twenty-three years in naval reserve and retirird with rank of Commander. Following active naval service, he experienced stints in fields of medical sales, insurance, and banking. All pointing to his career as business and training consultant to organizations retiring from the University of Tennessee staff after thirty consulting years. Concurrent with his consulting efforts, Rader was a restaurateur, small retail business owner in the Smoky Mtn area. Rader spends his post retirement as a real estate advisor with NAI Koella Moore Commercial Real Estate in the Great Smoky Mountain area: Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. And continues to pursue his first love, writing An avid outdoorsman, Rader has fished, hunted, hiked, swam, and boated throughout the Great Smokies rivers, lakes and trails in Appalachian mountains. Living on a TVA lake, he and wife Jane have three married sons and six grandchildren . Their community and church are very important to them. Bob George A master artist and magnificent illustrator, Bob made Daniel's journey come to life. His imaginative visualization and creative skill is beyond genius. God blessed him with a magnificent talent. And he has used it in so many venues in his 79 years. I discovered him here right here at home in Belle Meadows. A Key West Florida native and University of Florida and Ringling School of Art graduate, Bob served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army's First Infantry Combat Division. And later as a combat artist, Bob was assigned at the White House, as Graphics and Arts supervisor. Followed by a long career as an illustrator, designer, and art director in the Washington, D.C. area, Bob's artwork is featured at the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum, White House, Pentagon and U.S. Park Service Visitor Centers. Notable credits include the Ernie Pyle portrait, the War Correspondents Memorial Hall at the Pentagon, design of the U.S. Army's bicentennial logo, murals at the U.S. Navy's Surface Warfare Center. His painting, The Spirit of the Carabao, currently displayed at the Army & Navy Club in D.C. Chosen as the Smoky Mountains National Park's 2010 Wildflower Artist of the Year. Bob's winning entry, Bloodroot, a national juried competition selection, was the pilgrimage's promotional image for Aaron Barnhart Owner of Aaron Barnhart Creative, Aaron's graphic and book design skills portrayed Daniel's mystique. His patience, attentionto detail, and professionalism is unparalleled. His love of the Great Smoky Mountainsbreathed life into Daniel, the cub.
