OverviewA common problem associated with Parkinson's disease is the progression of mobility impairments caused by the degenerative nature of the disease. This is significant in that the number of new cases of Parkinson's disease will continue to rise in the near future due to known demographic developments and the trend towards increasing life expectancy. The basis of any Parkinson's therapy is pharmacology. However, as the effectiveness of the available medication is limited and can sometimes result in side effects that are difficult to assess, alternative treatment methods are becoming increasingly important. Dance therapy is one possible measure for maintaining or improving the mobility status of people with Parkinson's disease. However, the effectiveness of dance therapy has not yet been sufficiently proven. The aim of this book is to use a systematic literature analysis to demonstrate the effectiveness of dance therapy interventions in maintaining/improving the mobility status of people with Parkinson's disease.
