Mae Blodwen Jones ar aderyn prin yn cario ymlaen gyda hanes Blodwen, merch syn gweithio mewn llyfrgell, wrth iddi ddysgu Cymraeg a chwilio am y dyn perffaith. Nid yw bywyd Blodwen yn hawdd. Mae gafr da hi syn hoffi bwyta popeth yn ei gardd hi a gerddi cymdogion, ac maer afr yn hoffi dianc bob dydd. Mae cath da hi syn cael infestation o chwain ac mae da hi gydweithwraig sy ddim yn ei hoffi hi. Ac mae hin trio dysgu Cymraeg hefyd. Fel arfer, dw i ddim yn lico chick-lit fel Bridget Jones, ond, rhywsut, mae gwin a gwaith, adar a dynion yn fwy doniol trwyr Gymraeg. Ond, tipyn bach o stereotype yw Blodwen: 30-rhywbeth oed, yn sengl, yn hoffi bwyta cacennau ac yn yfed gormod o win . . . ydy hin meddwl am bethau difrifol o gwbl? Nid nod pob merch yw edrych am ddyn perffaith. Ond ie, dw in gwybod, os dych chin dysgu Cymraeg, rhaid i chi gael tipyn bach o hwyl rhywle, rhywsut. Alyson Tyler * * * This is Bethan Gwanass second novel in the Nofelau Nawr series, written for Welsh learners, and this one again is most entertaining. Blodwen Jones ar Aderyn prin continues the story of Blodwen, a libarian who is learning Welsh and looking for the perfect man. Blodwens life isnt easy. She has a goat that escapes every day and eats everything in the neighbouring gardens. She also has a cat that is infested by fleas and a colleague who cannot stand her. And shes also trying to learn Welsh! I dont usually enjoy chick-lit such as Bridget Jones, but somehow wine and work, birds and men, are funnier in Welsh. Blodwen is quite a stereotype: 30 something, single, likes eating cakes and drinking too much wine does she have any serious thoughts at all? All girls do not spend all their time seeking the perfect man. But, ok, I know, you must have some fun while trying to learn Welsh! Im also a Welsh learner, and I can sympathise with Blodwen and her difficult experiences with the Welsh language. I can laugh with her, and thats why this is such a good read. When you can read, understand and laugh through the medium of your second language, you feel that you have really achieved something. This is a great series, because, as a Welsh learner, I want to read Welsh, but real Welsh novels are too difficult, and Smot, etc, too simple. Here we have something in-between, with adult themes but Welsh learners language. Its quite a short novel, but there is a sense of achievement when you have completed a real book in Welsh. The price is also great only 3.50. Its very helpful to have a vocabulary at the bottom of each page, but they sometimes repeat the same word more that once. I think this book is suitable for those who have been learning Welsh for a couple of years. Its also better if you know the difference between dach and dych and between the North and South Walian dialects. But this is not a great problem, because the notes in the back of the book explain these things. You also learn about Wales, such as the proper name for Bardsey Island Ynys Enlli and that many rare species of birds live there. And who knows, Mr Right himself might also be living there?!
