Reviews

‘The current CISO/CIO/executive and board communities are constantly lamenting the fact that there is no credible pipeline for the next generation of CISOs coming through the ranks. What I love about this book is that it isn’t another technical manual about what firewall rules or new technologies you should use as a CISO; it’s about the skills and experience you need to be in that next generation of CISOs. I particularly like the sections on strategy and roadmaps. It is so difficult to find help and guidance in these areas without paying huge consulting fees, but the tips and guidance in this book really tell you everything you need to know.’ — Dr Robert Coles, former CISO, Merrill Lynch, National Grid and GSK ‘The way I, as a CIO, think about cybersecurity is “not if but when”. Cyber-attack is constant and takes place in many forms – some sophisticated, some basic, some by keyboard warriors in their bedrooms, some by those wanting to make a quick buck or create disruption, and some by state-driven activists. Also, what I have personally experienced in my time as a leader is how serious, or not, the boardroom takes cybersecurity. Some say “It surely won’t happen to us”, while others ask “How high should we build our wall, and should we put a moat around our data castle?” This book is an easy-to-digest (key for executives) framework for those seeking to gain awareness and appropriate investment in their cybersecurity position. I learned a lot from it. Enjoy.’ — Steve Jolley, CIO, Miller Insurance LLP ‘Stuart Jubb, a seasoned cybersecurity industry executive, has written a comprehensive state-of-the-art primer on cybersecurity, clearly aimed at all the senior management of any organisation, large or small. It is not overly technical so is accessible to the C-suite/senior leadership team. It has some real-life case studies that will justifiably create a level of anxiety – could your business be next? It also contains lots of practical advice on what all senior managers should actually do and the questions they should be asking internally. With cyber threat levels ever increasing, reading this book is a great first step to avoid your company being the next victim.’ — Steve Lavelle, Managing Partner, NGS Global UK ‘It is evident that Cybersecurity for Business Leaders is essential reading for any executive with fiduciary or oversight responsibility. It reframes cybersecurity as a governance imperative, not a technical specialty. Jubb dismantles the outdated notion that cybersecurity lives in the IT basement and instead presents it as a board-level discipline demanding strategic literacy, informed questioning and leadership accountability. As someone engaged in executive and digital transformation governance, I can confirm Cybersecurity for Business Leaders bridges the knowledge gap that too often separates technology from strategy. It empowers boards to lead with confidence in a domain that now defines corporate survival.’ — Ian John, CEO, CyberEye Caribbean ‘From terrorists to Trojan horses (RPGs to ransomware, bombs/bullets to backdoors), Stu has spent twenty-five years helping governments and businesses respond to rapidly evolving risks. In this accessible cybersecurity guide Stu cuts through the technical jargon, using real examples to show you how to protect your earnings and your reputation.’ — Paul David Mather, Operations, Leadership and Risk Management Consultant and former Head of Operations, Deliveroo
