Overview

In the province of Azilal (Morocco), the number of leishmaniasis cases has been steadily increasing in recent years. The situation has become a cause for serious concern, and this disease poses a significant public health problem. The disease has spread significantly in recent years, leading to the emergence of new leishmaniasis hotspots. The province of Azilal serves as a crossroads between several leishmaniasis hotspots in Morocco. Furthermore, the populations of the Azilal Atlas Mountains have a long history of treating leishmaniasis with medicinal plants. Hence the importance of studying the disease in this region. This book focuses on the study of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the province of Azilal (Morocco). In the first chapter, we present a history of the disease and its clinical forms. The second chapter is devoted to leishmaniasis in Morocco. The third chapter presents the results of an eco-epidemiological study of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the Foum Jemaâ region. The fourth chapter examines the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis with medicinal plants in the province of Azilal.
