Curse of the Stars: The Starless Fiend

Overview

What are the limits of redemption? The young dragonet Hyaline attacked a servant of The First Dragon. For her mistake, she is cursed to become Leviathan, the Starless Fiend of legend and prophecy whom everyone fears. Ashamed and terrified of her curse, she must learn the humans' language and read their scrolls for any hope of finding a cure. Fyran is a humble peasant girl who must constantly face poverty and want, all while helping her grandfather, the city Scroll Keeper. Devastatingly, the fearsome Leviathan comes to her city and kills several men, including Fyran's father. Bent on revenge, and desperate for the reward for Leviathan's head, Fyran and a noble friend set out to kill the creature. Desperation drives Hyaline and Fyran into a tragic collision. Fyran hunts a monster who killed her father. Hyaline must find a cure before there is nothing left of herself to save. THE STARLESS FIEND is the first novel in the Curse of the Stars trilogy. With a vibrant cast of dragons and humans, The Starless Fiend will appeal to lovers of Tui T. Sutherland's Wings of Fire, while themes of redemption will appeal to readers of C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia.

Author Information

April resides in Calgary, Alberta, raising the next generation of little artists: two girls named Micaiah and Larka. She was born on April 17, 1994, but was actually coincidentally named after her mom's cousin, who passed away at 17. April graduated from SAIT Polytechnic in Graphic Communications and Print Technology in 2014. She also took a Fast Track Photography course there, and gained a certificate at Mount Royal University in Creative Writing. April handwrote 163 books as a child during her homeschooling years. She has been a writer all her life, and describes writing like an itch that needs to be scratched. She believes writing has always been her calling: a gift from God.
