OverviewSince the end of the 1990s, Bertelsmann Stiftung has been exploring cultural dialogue within economic globalization and cultural change. In November 2005, an international cultural forum was held in New Delhi. Sixty representatives of Indian and European politics, business, culture, and civil society attended, including EU Commissioner Viviane Reding, Metro Group CEO Hans-Joachim Körber, Goethe Institute General Secretary Hans-Georg Knopp, and Karen Singh, president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The participants discussed the challenges of globalization in terms of security issues, the role of civil society, and the relationship between the global economy and cultural identity. This volume documents key forum contributions and new initiatives for European- Indian cooperation.
