Overview

Although the institution of marriage has been in existence since the creation of the human race, mankind has struggled to achieve the benefits of peace and security that this institution is supposed to offer. Many books have been written on this subject, and numerous seminars and conferences have been held to answer the often asked question, 'What is the recipe for a blissful marriage? Although these collective suggestions may produce some temporary solutions in certain cases, no durable solution has ever been found to address these destructive phenomena among the families of the global communities of the world. Therefore, as a result of the lack of knowledge of preserving a blissful marital relationship, the rate of domestic violence, arguments, broken homes, one-parent families, murder, and divorce continues to increase. The author of this book, who is also have been a married counsellor for over forty-five years, and has relentlessly pursuit in researching the reasons why this problem has always been so consistent among the human creation, has taken him back to the first two humans who was created, what was based on their relationship, only to discover that they were husband and wife.In order for them to enjoy a blissful relationship, they were given certain rules and regulations to follow in order to achieve a blissful married life, and among those fundamental rules were rights and obligations. They were also given the ability to show love, mercy, patience, tolerance, understanding, and reason among themselves, and in times of problems, if these qualities are acted upon, it would guarantee them a blissful, tranquil relationship. It is also within this institution that the lawful reproductions of the human race take place. As time elapsed, man went astray from the divine guidance that came to them from the originator of this institution, and although constant reminders of these rules and regulations came to the human race via the Prophets and Messengers, they have been repeatedly ignored.Cultural Perception of Marriage among Muslims is a textbook filled with advice and a recipe for achieving a blissful marital relationship, irrespective of race, colour, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and how a blissful marriage can be achieved when drawn from the divine text. So whether you are married or hope to get married one day, the knowledge in this book is not restricted to any specific age group or gender, rather it serves the purpose of educating all people on how to achieve a blissful relationship between the opposite sex. Author Information

I was born in Jamaica in the West Indies in 1937. I attended the local primary school until the age of sixteen; I went on to study Agriculture at the J. Y. C. Institute in Jamaica. Before graduating in 1956, I enrolled in the Jamaican Constabulary Force to do my national service, and while I was there, I learned classical music. I left the Force in 1960 and immigrated to the United Kingdom, where I have continued to reside permanently. In 1961, while studying electrical engineer, I worked as a session musician in recording studios playing wind and percussion instruments. In 1971, I went into management, formed my own band, and established a recording company producing my own and other local artists' records, and took up the management of a few recording artists. Among the artists that came under my management was the famous Actor and recording artist Jimmy Cliff. I also supported him with my band in his stage performances. This continued until 1975, after doing a world tour with Jimmy, including the USA, Africa, and the Caribbean. This continued until 1975. After accepting Islam, I decided to stop playing music and leave the industry. It was also during this period of my life that I decided to do a counselling course, so I went back to college and did a Marriage and Family Counseling course, and I am still a Trustee and a marriage Councillor in a Psychodynamic Counselling course. It was also during this time in 1976 that I founded and formed a community in Brixton, South London, known as the Brixton Islamic Cultural Centre. I remain a Trustee and marriage counsellor of the community, which is still active today with over a thousand members, and a retired Imam for fifteen years with His Majesty's Prison Service in the United Kingdom. It is based upon my seventy five years of world knowledge and experience, which I have not mentioned in this narrative, that I became an Author in1998 and produced four published books in order to share with my brothers and sisters in humanity some of my experiences and knowledge that have so far proven to be of immense benefits to the seekers of truth.
