OverviewIn this work, the author presents an investigation into cultural marks in deaf publications, considering works circulating in written Portuguese, aimed at young people and adults. Linked to Cultural Studies in Education and Deaf Studies, after reading and analyzing ten books produced by deaf people, the narrative of self-experience and deaf identity as a difference stand out as cultural marks of deaf editorial productions. The production of deaf identity/difference occurs mainly through the experience of seeing, the use of sign languages, cultural translation through writing in oral languages, and participation in communities and struggles that mark deaf cultures. This identity production is processed through representations that circulate in the works, including other cultural marks of the publications: the denunciation of silence and stereotypes and, in view of this, the ability of deaf subjects to overcome obstacles and achieve success. It can also be observed that the marks that emerge from the deaf works analyzed are similar to the productions of other subjects who are culturally considered ""different.""
