Hatt, a professor at the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, is a lifelong educator at all levels of education and a three-time award-winner for outstanding teaching. Dr. Hatt has taught an undergraduate course in Imagination Creativity Education (ICE) and a graduate course in Creativity and Education for many years. Dr. Hatt has presented on ICE at learned conferences (both national and international) for the past 15 years and offered in-service teacher professional development workshops in ICE for a decade. Dr. Hatt has recently completed a three-year appointment as anglophone co-editor of Canadian Journal of Education (CJE) and has been a peer-reviewer for several national and international journals throughout his university teacher education career. He co-authored and co-edited The Paths We Chose: Stories from Accredited Teachers About their Professional and Personal Paths After Certification (2017); Assessment, Evaluation, and Communication of Student Learning (2016); The Complexity of Hiring, Supporting, and Retaining New Teachers Across Canada (2015); and When the Interview is Not Enough: A Multi-stage High Impact Process for Hiring New Teachers (2014). He wrote Heart in Teaching: Attending the Pathic, published in 2009. He co-edited a 2018-19 special issue of the American Journal of Educational Research (AJER) on teacher hiring. In 1983, he edited Easterly: 60 Atlantic Writers, a Canadian grade 12 literature textbook for New Brunswick and Newfoundland Labrador. Dr. Hatt lives with his wife, Pierrette, in Corbeil, Ontario.
