Reviews

In this book, Teo provides an outstanding contribution to the advancement of theoretical reflections on crosslinguistic influences. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, the author offers solid explanations for contact phenomena in the English spoken in Singapore. The resulting study adds much to the growing body of literature on synchronic language contact processes worldwide. This excellent book will be of interest to scholars and students of Singapore English and general contact linguistics alike. Jakob R.E. Leimgruber, University of Freiberg, Germany
