OverviewCritical Care SBA Questions: A Companion for Intensive Care Exams is designed as a resource for anyone wanting to improve their knowledge about topics in intensive care, either for continuing professional development or for preparation for exams within intensive care. It will enable users to practice their exam technique for the single best answer (SBA) style of exams, as well as provide indepth answers as an educational resource. This book consists of five exams, each containing 20 long SBA and 30 short SBA questions. The long questions require knowledge of a variety of subjects and the ability to put this knowledge into a clinical context. They are usually based around a clinical scenario and involve interpretation of examination findings and blood tests to come to a diagnosis or treatment plan. The short SBA questions are designed to test factual knowledge rather than the ability to synthesise information. The questions aim to cover the entirety of the intensive care curriculum for a number of different intensive care exams worldwide. After each 50question exam, there is an answer section, which goes into further detail about the topics questioned and this can be used as an adjunct to revision. All answers are fully referenced using the most upto-date guidance. Although the exam format is that used by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM) exam in the UK, the questions and topics will be helpful preparation for anyone sitting intensive care exams around the world.
