He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the University of New York Graduate Center and an M.A. from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. DeCarlo is a nationally recognized expert in community policing and on perceptions of race in policing. He previously was a member of the Branford Police force for 34 years, including 6 years as chief. Eric Dlugolenski is an assistant professor in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department at Central Connecticut State University. Prior to joining the faculty at CCSU, he served as a sergeant in the West Haven Police Department. Dr. Dlugolenski is a National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Law Enforcement Advancing Data Science (LEADS) scholar. As an academic LEADS scholar, he works with practitioners from around the country to advance policing research. Dr. Dlugolenski is an active National Policing Institute fellow and a member of the American Society of Evidence-Based Policing.
