OverviewThis course is intended to serve as specific guidance upon which education and training providers can immediately base instruction in prevention, detection, evidence preservation and reporting of criminal activities in the international maritime environment. It is the result of a careful effort to ensure that the requirements of the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2010 are addressed through standards of knowledge and the acquisition of specific understanding, proficiencies, and skills through education and training. In addition to delineating the security and safety duties and responsibilities of personnel in the context of the Act and the training necessary to meet its requirements, the curriculum suggests resources that can be employed in delivery of the material. These resources include reports, regulations, conventions, books, videotapes, and other adjuncts to education and training that will assist instructors in conducting the training envisioned in pertinent regulation and guidance.
