Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (1821-1881) was a Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist, journalist and philosopher. Dostoevsky's literary works explore human psychology in the troubled political, social, and spiritual atmosphere of 19th-century Russia, and engage with a variety of philosophical and religious themes. Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky have together translated works by Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Gogol, Bulgakov, Leskov, and Pasternak. They were twice awarded the PEN/Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize (for Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov and Tolstoy's Anna Karenina), and their translation of Dostoevsky's Demons was one of three nominees for the same prize. They are married and live in France. Larissa Volokhonsky was born in Leningrad. She has translated works by the prominent Orthodox theologians Alexander Schmemann and John Meyendorff into Russian. Bill Homewood is a television, voice actor, and an Earphones Award-winning audiobook narrator. He has regularly appeared on such shows as Coronation Street, The Adventure Game, and The Talisman.
