Bill Smith was art director at Octopus Books in 1975 and became art director at Polydor Records and worked at Polydor from 1976-78. He left Polydor in '78 to set up Bill Smith Studio. He's designed more than 3000 covers for artists as diverse as Ella Fitzgerald and The Rolling Stones.
