The name of the main character is inspired by my maiden name, Courtenay-a name that was often easier for others to remember, as it's also a common first name. For ease of pronunciation and connection with young readers, the spelling in this story reflects the more familiar version. This book was born from tender moments with my daughter, conversations with my mother, and my own lifelong journey toward self-acceptance.
