In the years following the 9/11 attacks, the United States waged a ""war on terror"" that sought to defeat Al Qaeda through brute force. Eric Schmitt is a sixth generation Missourian and represents the Show-Me state in the United States Senate, where he serves on the Judiciary Committee. He previously served as the State Treasurer and then Attorney General for Missouri. A lover of the Constitution, Schmitt has fought for free speech, strong borders, and the dismantling of the administrative state. He has worked with colleagues across the aisle to enforce border security laws and limit energy prices. Eric and his wife Jaime have three children, Stephen, Sophia, and Olivia. Thom Shanker, a Pentagon correspondent for the New York Times, routinely spends time embedded with troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Shanker was formerly a foreign editor and correspondent for the Chicago Tribune, based in Moscow, Berlin, and Sarajevo. George K. Wilson has narrated over one hundred fiction and nonfiction audiobook titles, from Thomas L. Friedman to Thomas Pynchon, and has won several AudioFile Earphones Awards. He spent ten years in broadcast news, including for the American Forces Radio and Television Service and for rock radio in San Diego and Los Angeles.
