OverviewThe second synod of Mileum appealed to Pope Innocent I for a large scale repression of the Pelagian heresy, which was still strongly present in various cities in the African diocese. Sixty-one bishops of the Numidian church were in attendance to address heterodoxy that was still present in their churches. Among the various attendees was the famed churchmen St. Augustine, bishop of the city of Hippo Regius, along with retinue, all of whom were responding to the larger metropolitan church synod held in Carthage this same year.
