OverviewCosmic creation series deals with concepts of creation from various philosophies. Book 1 explores creation as described in the Vedas, Samkhya and Vaisesika philosophy. Book 2 covers orthodox sub schools like Advaita, Visistadvaita and heterodox systems like Charvaka, Buddhism and Jainism. Book 3 covers Western philosophies like ancient Greek and Zorastrian, Islam and Christian. This vast universe around us is a grand and wonderful manifestation of material forces under the Supreme Governance of Will and Wisdom, or, in other words, an example of the unquestionable, unparalleled architectural excellence of the Supreme. Mankind, since its advent, has been concerting huge efforts to do an anatomic study of this mystery but still a vast range of this remains to be explored. The mystery of this universe is enfolded by the Divine Spirit and that alone can unfold it. This idea is mentioned in the Vedic verse So agna Veda yadi va na veda (RV.10.129.7), which means: He, verily, is the controller of this universe and He alone has full knowledge of everything created. Every act of matter in creation combined with energy is preordained and has some ultimate predetermined purpose . Vedic creation is governed by two essential principles - Yathapurvam and Yathatathyatah . The process of cosmic creation in every cycle will be the same as it had been in the previous cycles of creation before the last dissolution. These led to some positive conclusions in dealing with the creation of the universe: - 1.The universe is created.2.Brahma, Jiva and Prakrti are eternal entities.3.There is incoherence of causal laws between cause and effect.4. Brahma is the efficient first cause of creation and the creation is a purposeful act.5.Administration of law, unity, uniformity and purpose is seen everywhere in the universe. These conclusions refute all imaginary theories of creation like the Theory of Negation, the Theories of Illusion and Delusion, the Theory of Momentarism, the Theory of Idealism, the Theory of Chance and Evolution, etc. Philosophers, while dealing with the subject of creation, arrive at three possible theories known as Atheistic theory, Pantheistic theory and Theistic theory. But these are mere hypotheses and are not the real solution to the riddle of the universe.
