"Wheaton, South Dakota, doesn't seem like the place to reverse the downward spiral of Josh Cooper's life. A drunk driver killed his brother two years ago. His parents' fighting escalated until his father moved out. Now his parents are moving to Wheaton to help his grandfather run his farm as if somehow this will save their marriage. The distance from the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, to the little Midwestern farmhouse was a lot further than showed on the U-haul odometer. Inspired by my seven beautiful grandchildren, I'm writing books for children and youth. I believe children's literature plays a vital role in developing courageous and hopeful people. I've always enjoyed opportunities to interact with young people because I learn so much from them. Now my passion is to share what wisdom I can through stories designed to delight and encourage.Over the years I've done many different things. I've been a pastor for some wonderful congregations. I've led librarians in the struggle to integrate physical and digital resources. I've managed technology teams supporting campus-wide information systems. I've worked with my wife to raise a family that makes us proud and thankful. And I've had some splendid friends.However, there is always more while life endures. So with my grandchildren in mind, I'll tell some stories hoping they serve to share joy, hope, and inspiration for young and, perhaps, old.
