Overview

The Corvette is one of the most recognized sports cars in the world. For more than 50 years, Corvettes have been favorites for fans and drivers in a wide variety of racing venues, including endurance, hillclimbs, Trans-Am, and GT. Corvettes have raced on all of the world's major road courses, including Le Mans, Daytona, Spa, Nurburgring, Sebring, and Laguna Seca. Beginning with The Real McCoy, a Duntov special raced at Sebring in 1956, this book will draw on the history of factorysponsored and private racing efforts, chronicling the history of various factory-produced models that have been put to the test as racing machines. The book consists primarily of historical images with a minimum of contemporary artist-shot photography that chronicles the car's 50-plus years of racing history.

David Kimble did his first full-color cutaway illustration of a production car, the 1984 Corvette, for Motor Trend Magazine in 1982 and has been involved with the plastic sports car ever since. He illustrated the 1990 ZR1 for Chevrolet and wrote the technical press release on the LT5 engine in 1988 and has illustrated every significant Corvette developed to date. In 2004, Dave wrote the complete development history of the Corvette through the sixth generation titled Genesis for Road & Track Magazine illustrated by all of his C6 illustrations and has since done the latest Z06 and ZR1 models.
