Cool Kids Do Maths In French has been carefully written for 9 - 12 year olds by a qualified and experienced foreign languages teacher. As it's both useful and impressive to know all the numbers from 1 to 100 in French, this bookmay also interest older children. The first six sections of the book practise 10 - 20 new numbers at a time as well as recap on some of the numbers already introduced. Each section begins with a page practising some new numbers. This is followed by fun mathematical activities to help embed the numbers in the child's learning. The seventh section of this book recaps on the numbers 10 to 100 and then there is a section on fractions using colours and pizzas. On each of the activity sheets there is support in French for the numbers needed for completing that particular activity sheet. And at the back of the book, thereis a lovely reference page for the numbers 1 to 100 in French and a fun game. The activity sheets can be photocopied for use by the purchasing institution or individual in their classes or at home. This book is a great cross curricular French and maths resource for teachers as each section could make a booklet for that number range. The activity pages would also make great extension activities for pupils who finish their class work first. Author Information

Joanne Leyland specialises in writing books teaching foreign languages to children in a fun and engaging way. Her varied range includes activity books, holiday phrase books with challenges, special Christmas editions, word search editions, first 100 words colouring book editions, photocopiable games and stories. Joanne studied languages at University and she lived abroad for almost 2 years in the 1990s. Before she became a teacher she worked in exporting where she enjoyed speaking her foreign languages on a daily basis. She has now been teaching languages to 3 to 11 year olds for almost 20 years. The two things she loves most about teaching is seeing her pupils enjoy her lessons and using her creativity to help them learn. When she isn't teaching or writing another book, she's probably speaking French, Spanish, German or Italian with her friends, trying out a new recipe, swimming or gardening. She's still a lot to learn about growing vegetables, but she's giving it a go, and believes it's always good to learn something new.
