Author Information

The author was an English Language professor in Korea for 14 years; his last position was with the English Linguistics Department of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He noticed that Korean students knew a healthy range of English single-word vocabulary but felt uncomfortable applying the language in a natural way. They knew textbook English conversation but not the common phrases used by native-speakers of English. To assist Korean students, he developed this guide offering simple, common expression used in natural conversation, giving assistance in Hangul, and conversation examples to show how the expressions are used in formal and less formal settings.
