Deese is a professor of political science/international relations/international political economy at Boston College, where he researches the politics of comparative energy transition/climate policies and institutions worldwide, the global governance of international shipping and aviation emissions, and the implications of green hydrogen economies. He recently edited A Research Agenda for International Political Economy: New Directions and Promising Paths. He has also taught at Yale, Harvard, Brandeis, and Tallinn Universities.
