OverviewBrazil is the world's largest producer of soybeans (Glycine max). In the 2014/2015 harvest alone, approximately 97 million tonnes of soybeans were produced, of which approximately 46.22 million tonnes were exported. Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) is considered the main disease affecting soybeans. Due to the scarcity of other measures, the application of fungicide is still the main form of control for this disease. Studies show that the application of protective fungicide is the main form of control for Asian rust. One of the biggest challenges for Brazilian soybean farmers today is deciding when to apply protective fungicide against Asian rust. The objective of this study was to examine different planting seasons and different times for applying protective fungicide to control Asian rust, ultimately proposing a calendar for applying protective fungicide and recommending planting seasons for the Federal District region.
