Overview

Contemporary Roman Catholic religious life faces challenges. The post-Vatican II Church finds the numbers of religious on a downward spiral due in large measure to challenges from society and a loss of identity on the part of those members of religious congregations and communities. The challenge is, therefore, to look at the present situation honestly and propose solutions and/or answers that can enhance religious life today and toward the remainder of the twenty-first century.

Father Richard Gribble, CSC is a Roman Catholic priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross. For 27 years he served as a Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Theology at Stonehill College in North Easton, Massachusetts. He is the author of seven biographies of Roman Catholic prelates and priests and as well as numerous books on Christina spirituality.
