The first volume summarizes the approaches to current issues and methods of contact linguistics research from the multidisciplinary intersection between linguistics and anthropology, ethnography, geography, political science, psychology and sociology, based on language contact situations worldwide. The second volume presents country-by-country profiles of all major contact situations in Europe from the Atlantic the Urals, illustrated by up-to-date maps and arranged by language pairs. Contributions are presented in English, French and German.
