Reviews

BMA Book Awards 2008 - Highly Commended <br> I have owned the first edition of this book for several years and have found it highly useful. I cannot remember trying to look up a clinical haemostatic problem, however obscure, without finding it referenced and covered adequately. The first edition filled a true gap between enormous tomes relating to highly theoretical haemostasis and general medical or cardiology texts where many problems are not covered in adequate detail. This second edition has included additional chapters bringing some more topical issues to the forefront, however the style of delivery of information is unchanged and I do not have any perception of a drop in quality from the first to the second edition. It is well-written in very clear English and explanations of complex disorders are very clear. This would illuminate the world of haemostasis to junior doctors, nurses and laboratory staff as well as senior clinicians in other fields. This is an extremely useful book: the combination of highly practical guidance of common, clinical, haemostasis problems along with detailed explanations of more complex science, make this a book that could sit happily in most hospital departments as well as haematology laboratories.
