Congas Full Circle satisfies a missing link in percussion literature. This is the first book for congas and hand drumming that breaks down the patterns of various styles (almost 50!) into small sections that can be digested easier. Although there are many high quality books for hand drummers, the books merely notate the patterns without teaching the reader how to play the rhythms. Congas Full Circle will fill that void. The book includes many exercises to teach the reader how to play rudiments on congas while improving your quality of sound. There are also examples of styles for djembe, bata, bongos, and cajones with music spanning from early African patterns to modern day Salsa and Timba. Author Information

Greg Jackson is an active performer, clinician and educator across the nation. He received the Bachelor of Science degree in Music Composition/Theory from Austin Peay State University, the Master of Music degree in Music Theory/Composition from The University of Alabama, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance at the University of Alabama. While in Tuscaloosa during his residence at UA, Greg was a percussion assistant for the Million Dollar Band drum line under the direction of Neal Flum in 2000, 2002, and 2005. In 2007, Greg's career as a professor began with the Percussion Studies program at Alabama State University. Greg has performed with numerous artists including Nancy Zeltsman, Michael Burritt, Tomas Cruz, and Bob Mintzer of the Yellow Jackets. Currently he is playing congas and percussion with the bands Basic Element and Low Voltage. Greg is endorsed by Remo Inc., Pearl Percussion and Pro-mark sticks and mallets.
